How to get from Ciampino Airport to the center of Rome

 Rome,  Italy

Public transportation from Rome airport

If you're landing at Ciampino Airport, getting into Rome's city center is easy with public transportation. In this blog post, we'll give you all the information you need to make the journey. The airport is mainly serviced by buses and there are two types of buses.

Shuttle buses to Rome

The first option is to travel by a private company shuttle bus, which will bring you straight to the center of Rome, usually the Termini station and it is the quickest way to get there. It's ideal if you're staying in or near the city center or major attractions like St. Peter's Basilica, Spanish Steps, or Trevi Fountain. The price is usually around 6 EUR and the main companies are Terravision, Schiaffini, and Cotral.

Public transportation buses from Ciampino Airport

The second choice, taking a public bus, is a little slower, but it's less expensive and gets you to the nearest metro station from the airport so the connection can in a fact be more convinient. From there, you may easily travel to any other part of town.

The bus stop is right in front of the terminal. ATAC bus number 520 will take You to the Cinecitta subway station on Orange Line and from there You can easily get to the Termini train station, Spagna or other main hubs. Bus number 720 also goes through the airport and will take you to the Blue Line subway station Laurentina. And as Romans say, all ways lead to Rome, even the blue line will take You to the center. You can even get off the subway in the historical top location of Colosseo which could be a great central station for You.

All you have to do is purchase Rome public transportation tickets in the Ciampino airport's arrival hall and take one of the buses that go through the airport. You can even buy a ticket that is valid for multiple days, so you will be able to save more money on your trip. The price is €11 for a one-day ticket, €24 for a three-day ticket, and €36 for a seven-day ticket.

There is also a Ciampino train station, but we do not recommend going that route because you'll have to trek all the way around the airport. Trust us, the buses are much more comfortable.
